The Embassy Row Hotel Joins Forces with SOME, Inc. To Serve D.C. Community, Deliver Local Connection

Washington, D.C., February 25, 2015 – The Embassy Row Hotel, A Destination Hotel, is excited to announce a new partnership with SOME, So Others Might Eat, a community-based organization dedicated to serving the poor and homeless in Washington, D.C. The partnership is revealed as the hotel prepares to unveil the final stages of its $15 million floor-to-ceiling renovation this March. As part of its overall renovation and repositioning, The Embassy Row Hotel is working closely with local partners to offer guests the opportunity to connect with the community in simple but meaningful ways while on property. Beyond traditional monetary donations, the hotel has pledged the following efforts to help SOME in their mission to meet the basic needs of the District’s homeless and poor residents with food, clothing, and medical care among other resources:

Suite – The Embassy Row Hotel has named its eighth floor suite the “SOME Suite”; pledging to donate one percent of revenue each night the suite is paid and occupied to SOME.

Bowls – Station Kitchen & Cocktails will serve the “special of the day” in a curated ceramic bowl made by students of the Corcoran School of Art at The George Washington University; 25 cents from each bowl will be donated to SOME.

Banquets – To elevate the group and meetings experience, The Embassy Row Hotel has pledged to donate five percent of revenue for every continuous break station purchased in the meetings space.

“We’re in the hospitality business, so teaming up with a program like SOME that regularly makes people feel welcome was a no-brainer for us,” said Shawn Jervis, general manager of The Embassy Row Hotel. “More and more our guests tell us they want an authentic experience. SOME provides the perfect platform for us to serve our neighbors and give our guests the opportunity to actually impact the destination. At its core, The Embassy Row Hotel strives to offer guests a genuine D.C. experience. This dedication is apparent through the property’s local design elements, like-minded partners and programming. Upon completion, the hotel will debut a fully activated social lobby concept, new restaurant Station Kitchen & Cocktails, extensive meetings and events programming, and revamped menu and perks for The Rooftop. A reflection and celebration of the city’s diversity, The Embassy Row Hotel is set to become a gathering place for global thinkers seeking an authentic D.C. experience.
